The Little Bee

Victoria stands
Apple in hand
Wet, sloppy lips
Gripping the last bit
Rosy,
Sweet,
Crunchy and ripe
one last bite
Bee, hovers, hesitates, tastes
Sugar seeps in
Wings flutter up
One more bite
Vic’s eyes open
WIDE
heart leaps
Teeth tight
Rasping breath
The yellow black, yellow black, yellow black, yellow black, yellow black
BEE
Heart beating, arm stiff
Vic launches apple into the Blue.
Apple lay still
Wrapped in soil
Earth’s helpless caress
That poor little bee
