Skinned Knees

Ephemeral

Skinned Knees
Ephemeral

Am I allowed to miss you?

Because I do,

Or is it only the idea of you?

So then,

Would it be strange if I

Got on a train, on a flight?

If only for a day, and a flying night?

To be by your side

You are more than your name

You're the warm weight of your body

Across the bed

You're a whisper in the dark

I want to see your face

You're a stroke down my back

Trailing down to my thigh

Leaving goosebumps inside

You're a hidden place

Loving each other where we're not supposed to

You're a tingle of red wine breath

A shared joint left with my lipstick stain

You're ephemeral, no regrets at all

You're an ache in my chest

So reply to my text

I miss our nest
